Fibers used in our products and their general characteristics:
Cotton (CO)
Cotton is the most important herbal fiber whose main chemical structure is cellulose, used widely for more than 5000 years. Cotton absorbs humidity and dries easily. It has a refreshing effect just like linen. Its appearance is matte. It absorbs a lot when it is washed at high temperature. If it is colored, it can be discolored at every washing. It is liable to wrinkling but it can be ironed at very high temperature. It is liable to pilling and wear. It can be dry cleaned without being exposed to heat and mechanical movement.
Linen (LI)
It is the cellulose fiber extracted from stalks of linen plant. Although it resembles cotton, it has many specific characteristics. It is known as the oldest textile fiber because it has been used since the stone age. It is the most strong of herbal fibers but it has low endurance against wear. Its life span is less than cotton, another herbal fiber. It is a fiber that is preferred especially at hot air because it dries quickly and gives a feeling of refreshment. It is not flexible and draping. It wrinkles very quickly. It is suitable for dry cleaning since shrinkage at considerable amounts is observed when it is exposed to water and mechanical movement. It does not have pilling problem. It is the most ironable fabric. It is affected from mold and harmful bugs.
Silk (SE)
Silk is a natural, protein based secretion product natural animal fiber obtained from cocoons of silkworms. Silk fiber has a middle level of flexibility, perfect draping characteristic, and luxurious touch. Raw silk is stiffer, rougher and more matte than processed silk. Silk is the thinnest of natural fibers.no pilling is observed. It can absorb dampness up to %30 without a feeling of wetness. It must be dry cleaned without exposure to mechanical heat and movement. It has a medium life span although its wear endurance is good. Its endurance against sunlight is not very high.
Wool (WO)
Wool is a natural animal fiber obtained from sheep or lamb wool, consisting of protein. It is known that wool has been used by mankind since the end of stone age. Its main characteristic is its warm, soft and rich touch. Wool does not wrinkle easily, it is flexible. It gets damp and dries slowly. It has a very good insulation. It has a medium level of endurance duration. Tensile breaking forces of wool fibers are lower than other natural and artificial fibers . Its endurance decreases even more when it is wet. It is a fiber with matte appearance. It must be dry cleaned without heat and mechanical movement because matness and a considerable amount of shrinkage is observed when it is washed. Wrinkles can be easily opened with steam. Pilling liability is high. Interactions like turning yellow, then decrease in tensile breaking forces, and deteriorationg of the touch can be seen in case it is exposed to sun for a long time.
Acetate (AC) (Floss)
It is a fiber produced by regeneration from cellulosic raw materials. Acetate is known with its perfect draping and attractive soft touch. It is a fiber used widely in textile although its wear endurance, wet and dry endurance are low. Its dampness absorption is very low. Therefore it dries quickly. Acetate must be ironed carefully since it softens at low heat. It haz a smooth surface and appearance similar to silk. It does not wrinkle easily, it is soft, it dries quickly. It is a fiber enduring against pilling. Dry cleaning is more suitable for this fiber since its endurance decreases a lot when it is wet. It must be washed manually in cold water in order not to be harmed during washing. It must not be dried in drying machine. Hot water and mechanical movements causes it to lose its shiny appearance, to get matte. It must not be wringed out and it must be ironed at low heat. Gases present in the air can change the color of this fiber and cause it to fade.
Viskon (VI) (Rayon)
It is an artificial fiber produced by regeneration from natural sourced cellulosic materials (trees, hay pieces, etc.) Its appearance is shiny in comparison with cotton and linen. Its wet endurance is rather low although its dry endurance is high. Wear is inevitable at damp or wet use. It dries very slowly since it absorbs dampness quickly. It must be dry cleaned without exposure to mechanical heat and movement because a considerable amount of shrinkage is observed when it is washed. It does not have pilling liability, howwever, its resistance against wear is low.
(Polyamid) (PA) (Nylon)
Polyamid is a %100 artificial fiber. It is long lived and strong. It does not absorb dampness, therefore it dries quickly. It does not wrinkle if it is washed manually in cold water without exposure to mechanical movements. It is suitable for dry cleaning. It is a flexible and draping fiber. Its wear endurance is very high. It is susceptible to pilling, it is weak against light. Polyamid is mixed with fibers such as wool, rayon, cotton and increase resistance of these fibers against wear.
Polyacrylic (PC) (Acrylic)
Acrylic is a completely articial fiber with petroleum content. Surface of acrylic fiber is smooth and it is a lightweight fiber. Its pilling liability is low. It does not wrinkle easily and it resembles wool with its rich, warm, soft touch. Fabrics including this fiber are washed easily and dry quickly because of its low dampness absorption characteristic. However, when it must be ironed, the fabric must be dry. It is also suitable to dry cleaning. It is a fiber prone to turning yellow. It found area of use for all textile or knitted fabrics that require endurance to bright light and climate conditions.
Polyester (PO)
It is an artificial fiber based on polyethylene; a derivative of petroleum industry. It characteristically absorbs very low dampness. It is not affected by moth, harmful bugs and sunlight. It is ironed easily and it stays smooth for a long time after ironing. Because of easily reversion after wrinkling or creasing, it can be used without being ironed after washing (without mechanical wringing). However, it shows pilling liability when it is exposed to high heat. It has high tensile breaking force like nylon. It is not stained easily, and it is cleaned easily. These characteristics enables ease of use in many areas. It is also frequently preferred as filling fiber. The most used fiber in the world is man-made artificial fiber. Because of high endurance, it is mixed and used together with natural fibers like cotton and wool whose endurances are lower.
Metal (ME) (Sim-Lorex)
It is a metallically produced fiber. It consists of metal, plastic covered metal or metal covered plastic. This kind of threads are generally not used on the entire fabric, they are used at some parts for different visual effects. Fabrics made from metallic thread can be ironed at low heat. They can be washed without being exposed to mechanical movement and heat, and they can be dry cleaned.
Sim : means threads covered by metal with chemical and electrical methods or glue.
General fiber informations above are valid for %100 pure fabrics. When these fibers are mixed with each other, their percents in every fabric must be learned and maintained. Fiber mixture and content information are given in all our fabric swatches.
USAGE INFORMATION
Upholstery Fabrics
Upholstery fabrics are generally not washed, however they can be wiped or dry-cleaned under appropriate conditions. Especially at fabrics with chenille, dry cleaning is suggested in order for the fantasy appearance not to deteriorate. Other cleaning applications (manual or machine wash, etc.) may lead to deformation on the fabric. Since shrinkage against water liability of %100 viskon or cotton products are very high, it is certainly suggested that delicate dry cleaning should be carried out.
When fabrics with mostly viskon fiber inside them or on their surface are wiped, they must not be left wet for a long time. Since viskon’s endurance decreases when it is wet, sensitivity appropriate for this characteristic must be shown and it must be wiped damp, without wetting.
Because they are natural fibers, although they are painted at high quality, color endurances of viskon and cotton fibers against light are lower than artificial fibers. Therefore they must not be exposed to direct sunlight. Fabrics with dense viskon and cotton on the surface may pill with time. Therefore it is not suggested to veil your furnitures covered with this type of fabrics, because, the clothes that you will cover on them quickens pilling.
Since water stains satin textured fabrics, wet and local cleaning must not be carried out. If they need to be wiped , it is suggested that they are wiped with damp cloth that does not hold water, by spreading with circular movements, or as a whole.
Since cloths with fantasy thread are prone to wear and pilling because of their structure, delicate use is suggested. If you are interested in this kind of fabrics, we suggest that you get information from our customer representatives by evaluating with the purpose of use.
- Protect your fabrics from direct sunlight.
- Frequently reverse the reversable cushions and mattresses of your oturma grupları.
- Before wiping your upholsteries as a whole, make a trial at an unseen part of it as a precaution.
- Never use cleaning materials like bleaching liquid, detergent, colored soap, soft soap and stain remover when wiping, only clean with upholstery shampoo or shampoo produced especially for delicate fabrics.
- If your fabric is appropriate for local cleaning, clean the stains within the shortest possible time. Never deal with difficult stains and refer to a professional.
- Do not use sponge, brush, etc. during cleaning. Wipe by circular movements with a soft cloth that does not hold water, without rubbing.
- Do not expose to direct sunlight during drying and do not use the product unless you ensure that it has dried.
Drapery fabrics
Since shrinkage and discoloration is observed on draperies which have natural fibers such as cotton, viskon, linen in their components, they need to be dry-cleaned without exposure to heat and mechanical movement. Even after delicate dry cleaning, even a little bit of shrinkage can be observed on draperies containing natural fiber. Since endurances of this kind of draperies against light are not as high as polyester compounded draperies because of natural fibers in their components, it is suggested that they should not be exposed to direct sunlight or used by lining in order to prevent discoloration.
Washable draperies must generally be washed at 30 degrees in delicate curtain programme, and they must be hanged wet without waiting in the machine after washing. Air flow presence in the environment that they are hanged must be considered. They must not be wringed out and dried in drying machine.
Since most of the detergents contain bleach, special detergents (colormatics, wool shampoo, etc.) produced for colored and delicate fabrics must be used including ekru tulles. Cracks on surface of taffeta draperies are characteristics of the fabric and they are structural. Dry cleaning is suggested; however, delicate wash can be made at 30 degrees. However, cracks may occur after the wash and characteristic crisp and harsh touches of taffeta fabric are lost, get softened. This change occuring on taffeta fabrics after wash is completely natural.
Silken products must never be wiped or washed. Water causes stains and destroys all splendor of silk. It must only and certainly be dry cleaned. It must be ironed steamless and dry. However, although dry cleaning without exposure to heat and mechanical movement is suggested for silk and silk blended organza tulles, they can be washed manually or delicately. However, after washing, touch of this type silk and silk blended tulles may soften and get matte, this is natural.
Hot iron may cause puckers on organza and derivative draperies. This type of fabrics must be ironed at the lowest heat that clears away wrinkles, with steam.
Most of fantasy fabrics are very delicate because they are woven with decorative purposes, and they can deteriorate after washing. They must only be dry cleaned.
Notwithstanding fabric characteristics, all products such as curtain, bedclothes, cushions, armchair wrappers and table cloth that contain cotton or polyester filling fiber or are produced in our workshop by being embroidered with beads, bordures etc. textile accesories must be delicately dry cleaned. In order to prevent deformations that may occur because of dry cleaning chemicals, on products designed with accesories such as beads it is suggested that they are cleaned completely after application of dry cleaning on a small portion.
